RAMESHWAR TEMPLE AT KANKAVLI
The Rameshwar Temple is built in honour of Lord Shiva. The temple is situated at Budhawde, Malvan and is believed to spread positive vibes to the Lord’s devotees which includes locals as well as tourists.
The Rameshwar Temple has survived damages to its structural and aesthetical aspects over a period of time. Thus, this unique old architectural landmark requires redevelopment.
Architecturally, the concept is one of quiet reflection and meditation. The design is evolved through Vastu and old religious rules which are still followed in this region. The simplicity and serenity of the temple complex is achieved by its calculative planning.
Concept for Planning:
- No provision for Pradakshina path.
- There should be 7 steps as each step holds some form of positive energy.
- No sculptures at the entrance gate as Shiva is the strongest God and never had a Sarthi
- Every unit is planned to achieve positive energy.
- There are only 4 columns in Sabha Mandapa.
- Entire temple complex is redesigned except for the original Garbhagriha (where the idol of the main deity resides).
- The size of the Garbhagriha is to be changed to 11’ x 11’ = 121 sq. ft.
- Existing trees on site are retained. A Katta is created around them for sit out.
- Material used is eco-friendly.
